I think that I want to talk about my motherland the Philippines from this time for the person who is thinking of a Philippine visit and immigration. I think that I want everyone to know the country of the Philippines before visiting the Philippines. By Cherry M

1 Philippine people

My homeland, the Philippines, to those who are thinking of visiting or moving to the Philippines . Before visiting the Philippines , I would like you to know the country of the Philippines.

Filipinos are originally of Malay descent, but the mixed race of Spain and China is progressing, and the number of pure Filipinos is a minority.

Stands on both feet of China and Malay, It is said that the Philippines, feels in the heart of Spain, and thinks in the American mind.

Western, Eastern and Southeast Asian customs are mixed to form a unique culture.

Overseas Chinese are mainly from Fujian province, and it is said that about 10 million people are of Chinese descent . It is said that there are 1 million overseas Chinese who still speak Chinese and maintain the Chinese lifestyle . On the other hand, Chinese Filipinos who have forgotten Chinese live in harmony with ordinary Filipinos.

When Filipinos meet, the first conversation they have is “Where are you from? If they are from the same place of origin, they will soon become close to each other.

It is said that they have different personalities depending on their place of origin.

Manila is a modern and developed person called Manila Boy and Manila Girl, Ilocano (northern Luzon) is a frugal person, and Pampanga (north of Metro-mania) is a good cook. Batangenian (south of Metro-mania) is said to be lucky if the fast- paced Picorano (southern of Luzon) can marry a Picorano woman with a sweet personality .

There are many Muslims in Mindanao because the region resisted Spanish rule and gained autonomy until the end. Because of that, there are many people who are poor and work as maids or sell goods on the street.

There are many Okama (Bakura) and Onabe (Tonboy) in the Philippines. The language of Okama and Onabe is Japanese.

They are physically male (female) but mentally structured female (male). Contrary to his own body, he desires to be a woman (male) and insists that he is a female (male) in his clothes and attitude . Not surprisingly, Bakura loves men and Tonboy loves women. In the Philippines, they are socially recognized and lead a general social life.

I feel that social cognition is a little behind in Japan as well, but there are people like that, right?

Filipinos swept the world’s beauty pageants from 2013 to 2016. They have a mixed race of Filipino mothers and foreigners as fathers, and the mixed race culture of the Philippines is deep-rooted. In the Philippines, we are proud of being a mixed race, and we are called Mestisa (female) Mescino (male) and attract people’s admiration.

2 Philippine religion・Christianity and western manners・Existence as the Holy Father is God

Due to the influence of Spanish rule in the Philippines, more than 80% of the population is Catholic and the percentage of Christians exceeds 90%. Islam spreads around Mindanao and accounts for about 5% of the population.

In the Philippines, which is located in Asia but mostly Christian, the church area is full of prayers and cars every Sunday morning . This becomes more noticeable as you go to rural areas, and people in the city go to church and the house becomes empty.

I think that the mass of a church is stopped for Corona-viridae now.

Even if you work at night on KTV, some people go to church early on Sunday morning at 3-4 o’clock, pray, and then return home.

A Christian expanse is from 16th century. The primitive religion fitted Islam before the christianity.

Also, the idea of ” eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth” still lives in the education of the religion.A revenge happens frequently when someone damages it. This is unacceptable in the Christian spirit, but it is often the case with Filipino blood.

In the primitive religion, we think that someone used the black thaumaturgy when a strange disease or death happens. If we get sick, we may rush to a fortune teller rather than a doctor.

The most important religious events for Filipinos are Christmas, Holly Week and All Saint Day.

Christmas is the most important event of the year in the Philippines. Christmas decorations begin in September, and Christmas songs reverberate in October.

Christmas decorations begin in September

Holly Week is the second most important event after Christmas in memory of the death of Christ . During Holly Week, everyone who works in the city goes back to the countryside and enjoys reuniting with family and old friends like Obon in Japan . Please be careful because you will be resented a lifetime by them if your work is busy and doesn’t return to a district or doesn’t return the maid and driver whom you employ.

November 1st is called All Saint Day or Halloween Day, which is a national holiday in the Philippines, which is the Obon festival in Japan. This day is the day when those who have fallen into hell become saints and the souls of all the dead are allowed to rise to the world and reunite with their families.

★The Holy Father is the existence like God

January 15, 2015 The Pope visited the Philippines for the first time in 20 years. With 80% of the population being Catholic, the Philippines is the third most Catholic country in the world after Mexico and Brazil. Therefore, many believers gathered in Metro Manila with a national welcome.

The Pope is called Pope Francisco by the name of Francisco.

Pope Francis - Wikipedia

Pope means daddy and is only allowed to be used by the Pope. And the Pope is familiarly called Daddy. Regrettably, I only could see a pope then on TV.

Four years later, in November 2019, the Pope visited Japan for the first time in 30 years. At this time, I was able to meet the Pope up close and shake hands.

I was deeply moved and happy. This is also thanks to my husband being baptized and becoming a Catholic and having a relationship with the Catholic churches in my area. And I think this is due to God’s guidance.

My husband was baptized in April 2019 and became a Catholic. The baptismal name of the husband is Francisco, which is the same as the Pope. It is from Saint Francis of Assisi, It received the name of a baptism by the bishop of the Catholic Church which we belong to.

My husband is a person who usually talks to animals. It sounds like a soliloquy to me, but my husband talks to the animals as if he really talked to people. A person who really likes and cherishes animals. Such aspects overlap with the image of Assisi Francisco.

Before I got married, my husband was an atheist and non-religious like many Japanese. My husband’s mother (my mother-in-law) was baptized as a Protestant when she was a child. My father (my father-in-law) graduated from a Christian university.

My husband’s house is a Buddhist Soto sect. Before that, it was Shinto.

My husband took me to the Catholic Church every week when I came to Japan first and attended a mass with me. Then, my husband received a Catholic baptism 3 years later from it from himself.

A society is my 2nd house for me, the people of a church are my brother and sisters and are the same as my family.

My husband was baptized by Catholicism and was welcomed and blessed by my Filipino family and relatives, and I think we built a stronger bond and relationship than ever before.

3 Why may not the christianity have become popular so much in Japan?

Japan is originally a polytheistic country. Japan is originally a polytheistic country. There are different gods in various things in the natural world. Therefore, Japan can be said to be a country that is tolerant of religions.

It seems that there is a Japanese god and Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and various other religions coexist. My husband’s house used to be a samurai, a military family. Samurai and military personnel believed in the Japanese god. There is a Kamidana for Japanese gods in the house, and there is also a Buddhist altar. And now I have a cross in my bedroom and my husband’s workplace.

There was only Japanese God ‘s Kamidana first. My husband was saying to my husband that Kamidana and altar of the Buddhism were put in a house in the Tokugawa government times at the Edo period that changed from general Jindo to the general of the Buddhism.

So why was Christianity not so popular in Japan, unlike the Philippines?

My husband likes Japan’s Warring States period and seems to be a little familiar with it. It was Francis Xavier, a Jesuit missionary who landed in Kagoshima in 1549 during the Warring States period, who introduced Christianity to Japan.

After that, when Portuguese missionary Luis Frois came to Japan in 1563, he was allowed to carry out missionary work by Nobunaga Oda, who was in power at the time.

After that, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, who succeeded Nobunaga Oda, followed Nobunaga Oda’s Christian protection policy at first, but suddenly issued an order to expel Batteren. Batteren seems to be a blunted version of Padre, which means missionary in Portuguese.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi first inherited Oda Nobunaga’s policy and accepted Christian missions. It was said that it emphasized trade with Western European countries. In this trade, guns and gunpowder were imported, and silver and gold swords were mainly exported from Japan.

However, Toyotomi Hideyoshi is said to have read the intentions of the Westerners to invade Japan.

He did embarkation Hideyoshi to the state-of-the-art warship built by the Jesuit chief missionary in Japan at any time. He told that he could move the Spanish fleet, half proud and half threatened.

At this time, Toyotomi Hideyoshi would have instantly discovered their colonization plan.

Another thing Toyotomi Hideyoshi couldn’t forgive was that Japan’s important land was beginning to be robbed by Westerners. Hideyoshi could not forgive the deprivation of Japanese territory by foreigners, albeit for his faith.

First, European person sent missionaries, then merchants, and finally troops to take over the country. It is a colonization plan.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi thought that it was necessary to stop Christian daimyo and missionaries as soon as possible to prevent it.

Ieyasu Tokugawa, who achieved the unification of Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s second store, initially took a reconciliation line with Christians, but gradually became stricter and issued a Christian ban.

It introduced the test that steps on the board that drew Christ at Iemitsu Tokugawa. If the captured people refused that test, they were arrested and sometimes executed.

sometimes in the war between Muslims and Christians, which was also carried out executions, we have each other killing each other, However, Japan isn’t making war. Christians were killed by the ruler and tried to eliminate Christians.

Even today, Christians make up about 1% of the population. This low proportion of Christians is among the lowest in the world, excluding Islamic countries.

My husband is a people who feels that God dwells in everything in the natural world, The people that feels that the God lodges all ones that are in the natural world is the Japanese. It is 1 God that made all. The Japanese can’t understand the idea of that monotheism.

My husband said so.

Thank you for reading until the last.
If this article is of use of you, I am happy.
