My husband was baptized in April 2019 and became a Catholic. The baptismal name of the husband is Francisco, which is the same as the Pope. It is from Saint Francis of Assisi, It received the name of a baptism by the bishop of the Catholic Church which we belong to.
My husband is a person who usually talks to animals. It sounds like a soliloquy to me, but my husband talks to the animals as if he really talked to people. A person who really likes and cherishes animals. Such aspects overlap with the image of Assisi Francisco.
Before I got married, my husband was an atheist and non-religious like many Japanese. My husband’s mother (my mother-in-law) was baptized as a Protestant when she was a child. My father (my father-in-law) graduated from a Christian university.
My husband’s house is a Buddhist Soto sect. Before that, it was Shinto.
My husband took me to the Catholic Church every week when I came to Japan first and attended a mass with me. Then, my husband received a Catholic baptism 3 years later from it from himself.
A society is my 2nd house for me, the people of a church are my brother and sisters and are the same as my family.
My husband was baptized by Catholicism and was welcomed and blessed by my Filipino family and relatives, and I think we built a stronger bond and relationship than ever before.
3 Why may not the christianity have become popular so much in Japan?
Japan is originally a polytheistic country. Japan is originally a polytheistic country. There are different gods in various things in the natural world. Therefore, Japan can be said to be a country that is tolerant of religions.
It seems that there is a Japanese god and Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and various other religions coexist. My husband’s house used to be a samurai, a military family. And now I have a cross in my bedroom and my husband’s workplace.
